Mindless
13 July 2014 | by  (Sweden)
This is one of the worst Michael Bay movies yet.

It never stops, it taught i was going insane... just mindless action with almost no breathers.

Escapism at its worst.

Tough if you like a confused plot, bad performances, disgusting monologue, horrible mindless action, horrible comedy, really bad timing, terrible editing and getting your energy sucked out slowly and brutally during what feels like eons... Then by all means, go waste your money.

This is not a tribute to Transformers. It's a hymn to the mindless, and shallow escapism which has boomed in Hollywood the last 20 years with the coming of the digital era(Even tough there are good digital movies). Not even worth the illegal act of downloading. Glad i got this paid by a friend who insisted i joined. Last time.

Cheers

a great film from the UK
10 April 2015 | by  (United Kingdom)
can/t understand why this film has a low score its got everything a good film needs a good storyline (most importantly the characters are believe able you can understand the plot )it goes along at a steady pace its not too slow, its aimed at the longer generation but grown ups will enjoy it too, its got some funny moments that make you chuckle and the special effects don't overshadow the scenes. After watching the film i can only say that IF the film had been made in Hollywood it would have a cast of A list stars and more special effects and CGI than Any Star wars film which may have made pots of money for some one but it may not have been so enjoyable

Not fantastic, but very fun!
27 December 2014 | by  (United States)
-Secret of the Tomb is the third and final installment of the Night At The Museum series, and this time the tablet's power is running out and the gang must go to the British Natural History Museum to try to find answers and save the gang! -For a film with some flaws that I noticed, it was honestly pretty fun! And that's what really matters in this, because it's for families, not Oscars.

-The story is rushed and doesn't make much sense or hold much weight in the film honestly.

-The pace is not bad. It doesn't waste time, but it does drag once or twice.

-The acting is meh. I feel like Ben Stiller didn't try that hard, along with some of the supporting cast. A few others however, Robin Williams and Lancelot, are great! -The characters are cheesy, but they are not meant to be super deep, serious people. It's a fun film guys.

-The effects range from questionable-to-good, but not Oscar worthy.

-The music is good, but really a repeat of the first film.

-I will say what makes it good and fun is that it feels more like the first film! It is adventurous and sometimes tear jerking, but still fun throughout.

-It is rated PG, so yeah.

-So although it has some major cheese and doesn't let up on a pointless story, Night At The Museum 3 is still fun and surprisingly heartwarming. I don't know if it is worth running out to see, but it is definitely worth getting in a $5 bin! I would give it a good 7/10.

Never quite makes up its mind what story to tell
21 March 2015 | by  (United States)
Any five to ten minute excerpt from this movie could easily lead a viewer to conclude that this is a well made horror or suspense thriller. The production values are high, the performances good, and so on.

The problem is that the parts of the film don't fit together. The sequence of action has the usual slow build and accelerating pace of any good thriller, but while the set-up is promising, and the events proceed logically enough as interesting and sympathetic characters are frightened, threatened or killed off, the reasons underlying the events remain obscure.

Hints and suggestive exposition are introduced, and then forgotten. There are explicit references to religious-themed horror fantasy, speculative science, and even a few elements of a possible conspiracy. An elaborate backstory is gradually revealed, and then abruptly dismissed. The conclusion doesn't really conclude anything: there's a decisive ending, but no resolution, no revelation, not even a clear idea of the probable consequences.

It's possible a re-edit could address these issues and make it a decent film. As it stands, though, it just doesn't work.

A Solid Family Film
22 June 2015 | by  (Canada)
A well acted fairy tail. Beautiful scenery, beautiful costumes. The story stays very true to the original - for the most part this is refreshing, though I do think the film could have stood to add a few new elements to the story or expand on existing ones, just to have some surprises for the audience. Emotional depth is added to the stepmother character, which to me enriched the Cinderella story, but I believe they should have gone a step further into the stepmother's back-story. The CG is frankly bad, but I didn't feel it detracted from the over-all presentation of the movie as seem to be intentionally fantastical/cartoonish. Cinderalla is a very well-rounded character that manages to tow the Mary Sue line without ever stepping over it. She remains likable without being too sickeningly sweet or unrealistic. She even has moments where she questions her own creed of always being kind and courageous. A good family film. If you like classic fairy tails, check it out. If you're looking for lots of action and a story you've never seen before, it might not be the movie for you.

Best F'n'F yet
19 April 2011 | by  (Australia)

After varying degrees of success with the franchise, My faith that "Fast 5" could deliver on the hype was waning somewhat. However I am pleased to say the series has redeemed itself. Fast 5 pulls out all the stops this time around. It delivers on action, cars, quality acting and a decent storyline. It explores the character personalities showing more humor, fear, vulnerability and determination this time around which gives the movie strength and depth that was missing from previous Fast n Furious movies.

I found myself laughing out loud a few times at the subtle humor, and leaning forward for the action scenes which are truly amazing.

The Story is not predictable and will keep the surprises coming to the end. The Cast has matured and it shows in the quality of acting over previous F'n'F movies.

Pros:
Good pace throughout the movie
Decent storyline and plot
Good Cast of actors/ actresses
Imaginative and inventive elements throughout
Plenty of "Wow" moments

Cons:
Would be nice to have more screen time for the cars
a couple of cheesy moments ( but this adds to the humor of the film)

Overall: Highly recommended film, Just be sure to stay until the end of the credits!

9.5/10

terrible
7 April 2012 | by  (Madkuntville)
This film is literally the biggest pile of elephant sh$t I have ever seen in my life.

I would rather slowly impale my eyes simultaneously with searing white hot forks than watch this goddamn sh#t again.

The aliens look like potatoes and the main alien sounds like Microsoft Sam. The actors are straight up terrible they try and act concerned and serious but come off as dopey and cliché' as hell. What the hell is up with the military personnel looking like fat wow playing nerds.

I thought the buff black guy would at least add some flavor but alas he was a pussy. This film could not have possibly have had a $1,000,000 budget because I could have produced something better with my crappy iPhone in my back yard with my semi retarded mates.

The directors should kill themselves.

I actually went out of my way to make an account so i could write this abhorrent review.

P.S I lost the DVD so Ill just take the receipt back with a piece of sh*t; same thing.

Out.

Jolie proves she can play rough in Kurt Wimmer's Salt
19 December 2010 | by  (United Kingdom)
While I can't say that I was awaiting Angelina Jolie's latest outing with bated breath, I was intrigued by the fact that Salt was originally intended to be a Tom Cruise vehicle.

Tom's waning box office pulling-power aside, this sex-swap was a smart move by writer Kurt Wimmer (Equilibrium) as it gives Jolie the chance to prove that she can lay the smack-down on just as many henchmen as the boys can. Having her rather than him as the duplicitous CIA agent Evelyn Salt, Wimmer gives a fresh angle to a plot that could easily have been a boring instalment of the Bourne series. Salt also sees the welcome return of Russian villains to the cinema after a long period in which Middle Eastern terrorists were severely over-worked.

When a Soviet defector strolls into the CIA and announces that Salt is a sleeper agent who will kill the Russian president, she goes on the run. Fearing for the safety of her husband Michael, Salt sets out to find him before agents Winter (Liev Schreiber) and Peabody (Chiwetel Ejiofor) catch up with her. The question of where Salt's loyalties lie is the true source of tension and Jolie plays it cool, gaining and dismissing the audience's trust several times over.

Schreiber and Ejiofor draw the short straws in terms of dialogue and simply run after Jolie for the entire movie without doing anything of significance. Hopefully, if the proposed sequel goes ahead, Wimmer will be able to correct this glaring oversight.

The action scenes are sharply directed and Jolie finally gets her hands dirty, particularly in the opening exchanges where she's being tortured in a Korean prison. If that wasn't enough, she also flies down an elevator shaft by leaping from wall to wall – it was a silly effect but added a cheesy, fanciful element to what would have been an entirely too serious movie.

Consequently the first 40 minutes are fast and furious as Salt evades her fellow agents by any means necessary but not to be outdone, the rest of the film takes a left turn and continues to surprise with some serious fisticuffs, gun-play and high-speed car chases. Admittedly, for all its skill and enthusiasm, Salt's finale is a little over-the-top and it wanders into well-worn ground without knowing when to stop. Aside from this minor gripe, Salt is a well-directed action movie that delivers us a potential new franchise, an intriguing lead character and an exciting close to a lacklustre summer.

Amazing! Brilliant! Fabulous! Wonderful! Astonishing! I'm not avoiding using a certain word!
23 December 2004 | by  (United Kingdom)
The Incredibles is a great film, and probably my favourite Pixar picture (Toy Story is the best, but that's different to favourite). It takes a while to properly get into the action, but when it does, it delivers it in spades.

And that's exactly it. I would actually call The Incredibles an animated action film, because to be honest, I don't think there was enough comedy to call it an animated action comedy film. There are quite a few funny moments, but the gags don't come as fast as Finding Nemo or Toy Story.

That being said, it does have truly amazing action set-pieces, brilliant voice acting, a fabulous script, wonderful characters and the animation is simply.....well....incredible.

The music is definitely a stand-out. It actually made me smile, with it's jazzy tones and James Bond type scores.

One of the greatest things about The Incredibles is that it's not a kiddies film; it's completely different to all the other Pixar films. They bring out tommy guns in the second scene, for crying out loud! If you want to see a more adult animated film, then go see The Incredibles, and enjoy every minute. But I wouldn't bring someone younger than 4 maybe, because it isn't really aimed at them, and they probably would find it quite scary.

This is a great film, one of the best of 2004 in my opinion. If it just had a slightly higher gag rate, than this would be an absolutely perfect picture.
